Fundraising for the treatment of young supporters

Saturday’s game with Burnley is being used as a vital opportunity to bolster fundraising for Oliver’s campaign.

Our special mascots leading both teams on Saturday afternoon will be seven-year-old supporter Oliver and his two triplet brothers.

Oliver is from Sunderland, his favorite color is blue and he’s a cheeky guy. But Oliver and his family’s life was turned upside down on February 19, 2021, when the youngster was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma – a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. Oliver is currently undergoing first-line treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

Although Oliver is doing as well as expected in his progress, neuroblastoma unfortunately has a high relapse rate, which means there is a good chance that the cancer will return in the future.

Alongside the Bradley Lowery Foundation, Oliver’s family and the community are seeking to raise £260,000 to fund a treatment called the bivalent vaccine at a hospital in New York.

With Bradley’s family having tragically gone through the same grief from neuroblastoma, the Foundation is working closely with Oliver’s family to seek fundraising – currently just over half of the total amount has been raised!

But we need your help.

All this week and during the day on Saturday you can text OLIVER to 70450 to donate £2 to help Oliver’s fight.

The online link to donate to Oliver’s fundraising page is also available here:

Also be sure to keep an eye out for a Bucket Drive for Oliver hosted by the Bradley Lowery Foundation throughout the day this weekend, outside and around the Stadium of Light and in the Hospitality Suites. .

Let’s all keep pushing – we’re halfway there – and give Oliver, one of our own, the treatment he so badly needs.
