Total commercial filings across all chapters increased by 1% compared to July 2021 with 1,724 new cases.

The overall volume of the bankruptcy information market has fallen by more than 20% since the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The number of cases opened in U.S. federal bankruptcy courts fell to 786,059 in August, from 989,214 in mid-April 2020.
